The senator stole a glass from which Francis drank
On Thursday evening, Pope Francis spoke at a meeting of the US Congress. Next to the distinguished guest in the department put a glass of water.
During the speech, Francis sipped at least three times from his glass, not knowing that his every movement was awe-honored by Republican Congressman Bob Brady, a Catholic from Philadelphia.
As soon as the holy father left the meeting room, the congressman quietly headed for the pulpit and delicately took Francis's glass, holding it with two fingers at the bottom.
Then, as reported by the Philadelphia edition Philly.comBrady returned with a glass to his office, accompanied by his wife Debra and two employees, and sipped from a glass from which the Pope of Rome drank. The example of a husband and a boss was followed by a wife and co-workers.
“How many of your friends have drank from the same glass as the Pope?” Brady asked.
The congressman shared the joy of drinking “holy water” with other fellow lawmakers. He called Senator Bob Casey, his wife and mother into his office. All three carefully put their fingers into the glass.
Brady then poured the "holy water" into a bottle to bless his four grandchildren and one-year-old great-granddaughter.
A glass from which the Pope was drinking, Brady will return to the Philadelphia police: he is a law-abiding citizen.
It is noted that the collection of "special" glasses Brady has grown to two copies. In 2009, he took the dishes from which the current US President Barack Obama drank from his inauguration.
Pope Francis travels in the United States from 22 to September 27. He has already managed meet up with Obama and become the first pontiff, who attended the joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the US Senate.
