“This is an exciting and very important discovery. It is extremely rare that hoards of English gold coins appear on the market.
This find of over 260 coins is also one of the largest archaeological finds in the UK. It was a completely accidental discovery. The owners were checking the floor of their house and found a pot the size of a Diet Coke can full of gold. They have never picked up a metal detector in their lives. They just redid the floor and at first they thought it was an electric cable,” the archaeologists commented on the find.
