Brooklyn Seven Wonders

Today we will talk about Brooklyn, one of the districts of New York. I want to talk about seven places worth visiting, writes Andrei Boychuk in an article for Immigrant porada.

1. Brooklyn Bridge Park

The park was created in 2010 to replace commercial warehouses along the East River. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a large project that is still under development, but all parts of it can already be visited.

In addition to the magnificent nature and originally planned paths, the park has soccer fields and tennis courts. Here you can ride on rollers, you can fry kebabs in a specially designated place near the water.

In addition, at one of the entrances there is an ice cream factory that sells one of the most delicious types of ice cream that I have tried in the USA. On the other side of the park, under the bridge, is a historical carousel. Jane's caroseulwhich was transported here from one of the houses nearby.

2. Park Slope

Immediately above the Brooklyn Bridge Park there is a lookout street that hangs over one of the highways of New York. From the site opens a magnificent panorama of Manhattan, so here you can see a lot of weddings and just amateur photographers who come to take pictures of Manhattan.

In addition, from here you can see Staten Island, the Statue of Liberty, Government Island and a piece of New Jersey. But Park Slope itself is an interesting area where you can walk for hours, looking at the houses around.

3. Coney Island

This is an amusement park and part of Brooklyn, which is located on the ocean. It borders with the famous Russian-speaking district of Brighton Beach. Coney Island began to develop as an entertainment district since 1829, and is still a popular place for New Yorkers and tourists, because here you can visit a variety of attractions, as well as go to the beach.

4. Old trolley buses

Trolleybuses used to travel around Brooklyn, and several cars were stored in one area called Red Hook. These cars can be seen on the embankment, on which previously there were only warehouses. Now it has become a commercial area.

There is a cafe and small shops, you can take a walk or sit by the water, drink coffee or tea and watch the sunset. From the waterfront is clearly visible Verrazano, as well as the island of the government and a piece of Manhattan.

5. The arch of soldiers and sailors

On the other side of the park, Slope has a large park called Prospect Park. At the entrance to it is a triumphal arch in the Roman style. On the history of the arch you better tell Wikipedia. I highly recommend to see it with my own eyes.

This is the second arch I've seen in my life. The first is in Washington Square in Manhattan. If you are interested in this kind of architecture, I recommend visiting it too.

6. Statue House in Bensonhjörst

In the Italian district of Bensonhjörst, many Italians once lived, but now representatives of all nations, including Ukrainians, have settled there. In this area, on 85 Street between 20 and 21 Avenue, there is a house, around which you can see many sculptures of movie characters and celebrities. For example, there is Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and others. This is not a museum, just someone decided to install such sculptures. In my opinion, this is one of the places worth visiting.

7. East River Park

This park is located in one of the most prestigious areas of Brooklyn - Williamsburg. Just 8-10 years ago it was not popular at all, but today it is difficult to find a piece of real estate in this area that is affordable.

On the edge of Williamsburg is located East River Park overlooking Manhattan. Also in the park from time to time concerts. It is famous not so much for its nature, as for its location and view.
