Former Georgian president and former governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, who was restored to Ukrainian citizenship the day before, returned to Ukraine on May 29.

The plane with him on board landed at Boryspil airport, arriving from Warsaw, writes “Ukrainian Truth".

He was met at the airport by journalists, comrades in the New Forces Movement party and simply fans. Some even brought a loaf of bread with them. The choir sang the Ukrainian anthem and also danced folk dances.

Saakashvili himself launched an online broadcast of his arrival on his Facebook page.

The politician had to wade through the crowd to the exit with great difficulty. On the way, he was presented with flowers, someone even planted a child in his arms.

Other people from his flight jumped over the fence to get around a long line of people wishing to meet Saakashvili.

In the end, the ex-governor managed to get out of the terminal on the street, where he gave a speech.

“Do you see the emotion of the people? Apparently, many people love me in this country. The border guard girl even said that they missed me. I spent 12 years in Ukraine... now I’ll put myself in order, look in the mirror,” the publication quotes Saakashvili as saying. RIA News.

During his speech, he said that “Ukraine can make a breakthrough and will definitely become the most successful country in Europe,” and also thanked everyone who supported it.

He noted that he would not go to the polls, but was willing to support Zelinsky and give him advice if the president was interested in this.

Saakashvili was waiting for a Toyota Land Cruiser with the flags of Ukraine, Georgia, the party flag of the “Movement of New Forces” and a flag with the image of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Saakashvili himself at the airport parking.
