Russian was arrested in the USA for sending parts of weapons to his homeland: he faces 20 years in prison

If convicted, Vladimir Kuznetsov faces a “maximum of 20 years in prison,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York said in a statement.

Russian Vladimir Kuznetsov was arrested in the state of Pennsylvania on charges of illegal export of small arms parts and accessories to Russia. This is stated in a statement released on Tuesday by the New York State Eastern District Attorney. A copy of the message is available to the correspondent TASS.

“A finding was unsealed in Brooklyn federal court charging Russian citizen Vladimir Kuznetsov with unlawful export, attempted export, and conspiracy to export firearms parts and accessories from the United States to persons in Russia. Kuznetsov was arrested this morning in Dingsman Ferry, Pennsylvania,” the statement said.

“If found guilty, Kuznetsov faces a maximum of 20 years in prison,” the New York prosecutor’s office said. “To export such things, a special license from the US State Department and the US Department of Commerce is required; this person does not have such a license,” she explained.

According to the American authorities, Kuznetsov is charged with acts committed from February 2017 of the year at the time of his arrest. A Russian with accomplices, whose names are not indicated, is accused of acquiring parts of small arms, including sniper rifles, on the Internet, and sending these goods by US Post to customers in Russia. On the parcels and goods a false description of the contents was indicated.

According to the New York State Prosecutor's Office, in July 2017, the American authorities detained a package sent by Kuznetsov at the New York International John F. Kennedy Airport, which contained an element of a Bosch milling machine and a box for the American Remington 700 sniper rifle.

In April 2018 of the year, in another cargo of a Russian at the same airport, a rifle forearm and stores for it were found, designed for five rounds each, as well as sneakers, jeans, an heating pad and a device for measuring blood pressure. In the form for the description of these items, intended for American customs, the forearm rifles and shops were not indicated.
