Investors are interested in the residence of expelled Russian diplomats
As soon as Russian diplomats left the territory of their residence in Long Island, following the decision of US President Barack Obama to expel them in response to Russia's interference in elections in the States, American businessmen did not waste time and made a proposal to use the vacated territory.
In place of the former Russian diplomatic residence in Brookville, which covers an area of about 5,6 ha, it is proposed to build a multifunctional entertainment center, reports New York Daily News.
Dover Group Hospitality is ready to embody a multi-million building project in the former residence. She proposes to build a tennis court, a golf course and banquet rooms there.
The residence was owned by the Russian diplomatic corps since 1952.
The White House believes that the residence in Long Island was used for espionage activities and “inappropriate entertainment.”
Let us remind you that the US authorities decided to expel 35 Russian diplomats from the country, explaining that the members of the diplomatic mission acted “not in accordance with their diplomatic or consular status.” US President Barack Obama also imposed sanctions against 5 Russian organizations, including the FSB and the GRU.
