Florida restaurant denies service to people wearing masks

A Florida restaurant sparked controversy after posting a sign on its doors warning potential diners: "if you wear a mask, you will not be served," reports WFLA.

The owners of Crisp Creperie at Cape Coral posted a sign urging people to remove their masks before entering the establishment.

“We don’t think masks do any good, so we don’t want to see them here,” owner Debbie Hernandez said.

The owners said the masks could be dirty and affect their mental health. So they don't want to see people wearing them.

“We are also psychologically negatively affected by having to look at someone wearing a mask,” said Debbie Hernandez.

Some customers have stated that they will not support a business with such a policy.

“Personally, I think it is wrong to discriminate against people,” said Cape Coral resident Jody Matthews.

But the Hernandez said that if you don't like their policy, find your food somewhere else.

“There are other places to eat,” owner Jack Hernandez said. “People don’t have to choose this place.”

Other customers said they didn't care, saying it was the Hernandez's right, as private entrepreneurs, to refuse service. For now, the sign remains, although the restaurant has received some negative reviews.
