Decided to freshen up: a family in Florida found a 3-meter alligator in their pool

On May 17, authorities reported that a Florida family woke up to a loud noise in their yard and found a 3-meter alligator about to swim in their pool, reports FoxNews.

A huge alligator measuring 3 meters in length and weighing 250 kg broke through the fence around the porch of the Deep Creek family, the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said.

“Water Safety Month Tip #37: Always check your pool before you dive in!” This is stated in the message of the sheriff's office on Facebook.

The sheriff's office shared photos of the alligator "bathing" in "good, cool water".

Police and an alligator hunter from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) worked together to capture the wayward alligator.

It was not immediately clear where the police took the alligator after its bathing was interrupted.

"If you see an alligator, don't touch it, keep your distance," said Dan Costell, assistant reptile and fish curator at the Tampa Zoo in Lowry Park.

Mating season for alligators is usually May or June, and hatching occurs from August to September.
