Tension in trade relations of Kazakhstan and Russia is growing

The departments of Russia and Kazakhstan, which monitor the quality of food, on Friday imposed a ban on the supply of a variety of food items to each other.

Thus, the Committee for the Protection of Consumer Rights of Kazakhstan has revealed cases of consumer fraud and violations of the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union in Russian mayonnaise, butter and confectionery products sold in the country.

The products are withdrawn from sale and entered into the register of non-conforming goods. Among the food products prohibited for export are sweets produced at the Lipetsk confectionery factory Roshen, owned by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, as well as confectionery products produced at enterprises in the Moscow, Kemerovo, Vologda and Belgorod regions.

Consumer deception was also detected in a batch of Olive Makheev mayonnaise, which contains 12% less fat than indicated on the packaging. An increased acidity content was detected during the sale of Saratovsky mayonnaise.

Similar claims have been made against Krestyanskoe butter from Novosibirsk and a number of other products.

Around the same time, a message appeared on the official website of the Russian sanitary supervision agency, Rospotrebnadzor, about the withdrawal from sale of a number of products imported from Kazakhstan.

“So, in the Kurgan region, dairy products with labeling that did not meet the established requirements were identified. Carbonated fermented milk products “TAN Rudnensky” and “Ayran Rudnensky” produced by Leader2010 LLP (Republic of Kazakhstan) did not contain information about an organization in the Russian Federation authorized to accept claims from consumers.

In the Chelyabinsk region, when studying pasteurized milk “Depovskoye” produced by DEP LLP (Republic of Kazakhstan), a discrepancy was found in the fatty acid composition and content of dry skim milk residue.

In low-fat kefir produced by Ice Plus LLP (Republic of Kazakhstan), a content of Escherichia coli bacteria was found that exceeded hygienic requirements,” says the official statement of Rospotrebnadzor.

The department also discovered that the nitrate content in Kazakh melons and beets grown on the Dikhan-Sauda farm exceeded the standards.

In addition, Rospotrebnadzor revealed the fact of fraud, when dried fruits and walnuts made in the USA were sold under the guise of Kazakhstani products.
