Putin nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
Russian President Vladimir Putin was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021. Writer Sergei Komkov sent an application to the Oslo-based Nobel Committee on September 9, writes «РИА Новости».
“This is my fourth nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. It was sent on September 9 this year, and already on September 10 this application was received by the Nobel Peace Committee in Oslo, at the headquarters of the Nobel Committee,” Komkov said at a press conference “On the nomination of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 year."
According to the academician, he closely followed the registered letter.
“At 15:07 local time, this registered letter was received in Oslo <...> and signed by one of the secretaries of the Nobel Committee. After this application, a literally frenzied reaction began on the American side. Late in the evening, after 16 p.m. local time, the American representative in Oslo <...> quickly wrote out an application, almost by hand, and immediately thrust in an application for nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize - I don’t understand why, for some kind of settlement there is some kind of conflict situation between the United Arab Emirates and Israel - Trump,” the writer noted.
Komkov said that accepting applications for nominations begins in September and ends in October. Until March, the committee will consider them, and in March-April, everyone who sent their proposals will be sent letters notifying that the application has been accepted, considered and registered.
The Literaturnaya Gazeta website contains information about a writer named Sergei Komkov. It is indicated that he is the author of the books "Kremlyudi", "Quiet Backwater: Okhotny Ryad, Building 1", "Wahhabit", "Fool's Day".
According to Interfax, the Kremlin is indifferent to whether Putin will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize or not.
“If the decision is made, great. If it’s not accepted, that’s also okay,” press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked how the Kremlin viewed Putin’s nomination for this award.
“You know that completely different people are nominated for this award. And this is the initiative of those who come up with such a proposal. There are certain procedures for considering nominees,” Peskov explained.
The Peace Prize is one of five bequeathed at the end of the XNUMXth century by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. It is awarded to a person or organization for outstanding contributions to peace.
