Putin accused Ukraine and the United States of sending Russians to Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the detention of Russians in Belarus is nothing more than a planned special operation by the Ukrainian and American special services. He expressed this opinion in an interview with the channel "Russia 24". Writes about it Meduza.

“It’s obvious now. This is an action of the special services. People were secretly used to move them to the territory of Belarus... They were simply dragged to the territory of Belarus and presented as a possible striking force to shake up the situation during the election campaign. Which was absolutely not true. People went to work in a third country. They were simply lured there, dragged across the border. Our border guards didn’t let them out, by the way. They couldn't move in. But they were actually imported using fake documents. This is an operation of Ukrainian special services jointly with American ones. Now this is reliably known. Some participants in this process or observers are well-informed people, they don’t even hide it,” said Vladimir Putin, talking with journalist Sergei Brilev.

Komsomolskaya Pravda was the first to put forward such information about the operation of the Ukrainian special services on August 6. We are talking about Russians who are allegedly members of the Wagner Private Military Company (Wagner PMC).

A little later, the sources of the publications "Ukrainskaya Pravda" and "Censor.net" reported that the special forces had indeed been preparing this operation for more than a year, but it failed due to information leakage in the circle of the head of state. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called these messages disinformation.

It is known that a few weeks before the presidential elections in Belarus, the state news agency BelTA, referring to law enforcement agencies, reported that 32 Wagner PMC militants had been detained near Minsk.
