The 'advanced' version of the USSR: Lukashenko and Putin signed programs to unify the legislation of Russia and Belarus

In September, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with CNN, commented on information about the possible entry of Belarus into the Russian Federation.

He called it "absolute nonsense."

“As for whether Belarus will become part of the United States, Great Britain or Russia, this is absolute nonsense... Such an issue is not on the agenda at all. This is an invention of the “colonial West,” as we say,” Lukashenko said.

But already on September 9, 2021, Lukashenko and Putin met in the Kremlin, where they agreed on 28 union programs that will be signed by the end of 2021.

Then the Belarusian president said that Belarusians and Russians are “practically one people”.

On November 4, at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, Russia and Belarus approved 28 sectoral union programs, as well as the updated Military Doctrine and the Concept of Migration Policy.

According to Putin, these programs are aimed at unifying the legislation of Russia and Belarus in different areas of the economy.

The countries will also unite oil and electricity markets, industrial policy and access to public procurement.

State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev said that the adoption of the military doctrine "is conditioned by the change in the military-political situation in the region, the emergence of new challenges and threats for Belarus and Russia, and unprecedented external pressure on the countries."

“The new military doctrine will make it possible to increase the level of coherence of defense policy and timely adapt the tasks of the defense ministries, taking into account the change in the military-political situation in the region,” he said.

The head of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin in his telegram channel said that within the framework of the implementation of the union programs outlined at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, the parliaments of the Russian Federation and Belarus have to do a lot of work to further unify the legislation of the two countries.

According to the Russian politician, “dozens of legislative decisions will be needed to implement the agreements.”

"The efficiency of integration between our countries depends on their quality and promptness of adoption," wrote the head of the State Duma.

According to Lukashenka, he and Putin do not set specific deadlines for themselves and "will go step by step, solving problems."

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the new alliance with Russia will take into account all the mistakes of the European Union and leave the positive from the Soviet past.
