Presumed dead 3-year-old girl woke up at her funeral XNUMX hours later

The family of Camila Roxana Martinez Mendoza is suing the hospital for negligence.

Camila was taken to the Salinas de Hidalgo Community Hospital on August 17 due to her dehydration. The young girl suffered from abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever.

Camila was reportedly given paracetamol and released from the hospital. But the girl's parents noticed that the child's condition worsened, and a private doctor convinced them to re-hospital him.

Camila's mother stated that the hospital staff neglected her daughter during the second visit. According to her, it took them a long time to give her oxygen and intravenous drugs.

“They couldn't find her little veins. In the end, one nurse coped with it, ”Mary Jane Peralta lamented.

Camila was taken to some room where Mary couldn't see her. After that, the death of a 3-year-old girl was declared in the hospital.

Peralta said that before Camila was taken away, she felt like her daughter was hugging her.

“They said, 'You should let her rest in peace,'” Peralta recalls.

The next day, at Camila's funeral, her mother noticed condensation on the lid of her daughter's glass coffin. Peralta assumed Camila was still breathing, but people said she was hallucinating from grief.

Then the girl's grandmother noticed that her eyes were moving. It is reported that the "deceased" pulse was 97 beats per minute.

Camila was then rushed to the hospital, where the girl was declared dead again. According to her mother, the baby's pulse dropped to 35 beats per minute in the ambulance.

The first cause of death was dehydration, and the second was cerebral edema.

“I have no grudge against doctors,” Peralta said at the trial. “I only ask that doctors, nurses and directors be changed so that this does not happen again.”

To date, the Attorney General's Office of the State of San Luis Potosi is investigating the case.
