Fire on a ship with tourists off the coast of the United States: the remains of 25 people found
According to officials, an 75-foot (23 m) vessel called Conception carried an 33 passenger and six crew members when it caught fire around 03: 30 Monday morning.
According to a spokesman for the US Coast Guard, rescue teams discovered the remains of 25 people who died after a diving boat caught fire on the coast of Santa Cruz Island, north of Los Angeles.
Coast Guard lieutenant Matthew Kroll reported that the crew gathered the bodies of 25 people. He said this figure should be confirmed by the investigator.
“You just need to remember that the numbers can change a little when an expert examines the remains. At least nine people are still missing and the search for survivors continues. ” — he said.

Five crew members who were on the upper deck on the bridge of the ship jumped and were saved, as they were picked up by a passing ship, — US Coast Guard captain Monica Rochester said earlier. According to Rochester, 34 people from 39 were sleeping under the deck when a fire broke out.
The ship went on a three-day diving excursion on Saturday morning, “to explore the peaks of the island of San Miguel,” and was supposed to return on Monday evening.
Bob Hansen told NBC News that he and his wife were in their boat, The Grape Escape, in a bay about 400 yards (365 m) away from the boat, and helped the captain and four crew members who managed to escape the fire .

Hansen said that one of the crew members had a broken leg, and the other said that his girlfriend was on board and could not be saved. Some cried. They were clearly upset, he said.
"They felt so helpless." — said Hansen.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said the moment of the fire and the location of the ship contributed to the tragedy, and flames erupted when almost everyone on board was asleep.
The ship sank at the bottom of the ocean about 20 yards (18 m) from the shore four hours after the start of the fire and is currently at the bottom at a depth of 62 feet (56 m).
On Monday, officials said they were discussing how to handle the wreckage of a boat. — whether it can be towed without breaking into parts, or whether it should be inspected in place. So far, there is no direct evidence of a criminal act.
On Monday, Santa Barbara County announced that the names of the victims were not disclosed until their relatives were notified.
