Denis Chuprikov, arrested for theft of the picture of Arkhip Kuindzhi “Ai-Petri. Crimea ”from the Tretyakov Gallery, pleaded guilty and said that in this way he wanted to attract attention. “I fully admit my guilt, I just wanted to draw attention to my person, HYIP,” said Chuprikov.

According to TASS, the lawyer asked Chuprikov to change the measure of restraint.

“Due to my client’s disability, I ask that a preventive measure be chosen against Chuprikov in the form of house arrest. He realized everything, handed over his foreign passport and completely repented of what he had done,” said lawyer Svetlana Gorbunova, showing the defendant’s certificate of the second disability group.

The prosecutor asked for the decision of the court of first instance to remain unchanged.

“Being at large, Chuprikov can hide; I ask that the court decision be left unchanged and the complaint left unsatisfied,” the prosecutor said.

The court confirmed the decision of the Tagansky court to arrest Chuprikov until 27 in March.

Recall, the picture Kuindzhi was stolen on Sunday evening 27 January. The suspect was detained the next day he returned the picture. According to investigators, he had accomplices, they are looking for.

29 January Chuprikova arrested for two months. From the Tretyakov Gallery the room warden, who was working at the exhibition at the time of the theft, was fired. The head of the Ministry of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky, reprimanded the gallery director Zelfire Tregulova.

Work Kuindzhi attracted kidnappers earlier. So, from the Chelyabinsk gallery the “Ruins in the steppe” and “At sunset” written by him were stolen, and the etude “Dnepr” disappeared from Vologda.
