“Credit reporting agencies such as Equifax, make billions of dollars, collect and sell consumers' personal data without their consent, and then force customers to pay if they want to stop sharing their own data, Warren said in a statement on Friday, September 15. “Our bill gives consumers more control over their personal data and prevents companies like Equifax, charge for freezing and defrosting access to your credit files. This bill is the first step towards reforming the credit report industry. ”

The bill will also require all credit bureaus to refund any fees they charge consumers for freezing their credit as a result of a breach. Equifaxlawmakers said.

Previously Credit Bureau Equifax in USA reported about the theft of personal data 143 million Americans. According to the report, hackers received data from May to July 2017.
