360 Degree Space Flight: US Company Offers Unique Tour

Want to travel to Earth's upper atmosphere in a luxurious space balloon? You can get your chance as early as 2024 if your budget is over six figures. The edition told in more detail Popular Mechanics.

The Neptune spacecraft, a futuristic hot air balloon flight from Space Perspective, "the world's first luxury spaceflight company," will take passengers almost 20 miles (32 km) into the upper atmosphere.

The company, headquartered at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, recently unveiled an illustration of the interior of its cockpit. Inside the pressurized Neptune capsule is an impressive 360-degree "Space Lounge".

Under the base of the cabin compartment is a splashdown area, giving the bottom of the compartment the shape of an inverted cone. It enters the water with minimal turbulence. Thus, the end of the flight will be as smooth as everything else.

Salon features:

• round cabin;
• 360 degree windows;
• deep, comfortable seats for eight passengers and the pilot;
• dark, purple tones and subdued lighting (to reduce glare and reflections);
• bar with drinks and snacks;
• Wi-Fi connection for live streaming;
• rooms for scientific instruments supporting research projects;
• Possibility to provide places for dinner or wedding.

The good news is that you don't need any special training for this trip because it doesn't use rockets to launch passengers into outer space (beyond the internationally recognized space boundary of 62 miles (99 km) above sea level).

Company co-founder Jane Poynter said she wanted to offer people a more accessible space flight experience.

Some of the same people who participated in the record-breaking Stratex flight in 2014 and the Biosphere 2 project to model and study the world's ecosystems founded Space Perspective.

According to the company's website, the company was formed to share "the transformative power of space travel with as many people as possible." The company describes flying the Neptune spacecraft as a zero-emissions ride that climbs at a steady speed of 12 miles (19 km) per hour.

During the six-hour trip, you will spend two hours climbing, flying and descending. The trip ends with a splashdown in the ocean. You'll see what every astronaut sees before passing the barrier between sky and space: massive continental landforms in greens and browns; brilliant blue oceans; a thin bright blue line illuminating the curvature of our planet; and a background of stars.

The bad news is that you will probably have to wait another year. The 25 flights planned for the first year (600 tickets) are already sold out, and they cost $125 apiece.
