While the world is fighting COVID-19, a mysterious new disease emerges in India
At least one person has died and 227 people have been hospitalized for an unspecified illness in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The details were shared by the edition with the BBC.

According to doctors, patients have a wide range of symptoms - from nausea to seizures and fainting.
They are still trying to establish the cause of the disease.
India now has the second highest number of COVID-19 patients in the world. Andhra Pradesh was one of the worst-hit states, with 800 people falling ill.
Alla Kali State Health Minister Krishna Srinivas said no COVID-19 was found in all patients.

“The sick people, especially children, complained that their eyes were itching, and then vomiting appeared. Some of them fell unconscious and also suffered a series of attacks,” said a medical worker at a government hospital in Elur famine.
Officials said 70 patients were discharged from hospitals, but another 157 are being treated.
State Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy said special medical teams were sent to Elur to investigate the cause of the illness. Reddy will also visit the city to meet with patients and their families.
Srinivas said the patients' blood samples showed no signs of a viral infection.

“Officials visited areas where people were sick and ruled out water or air pollution as a cause,” he said.
“This is some kind of mysterious disease, and only laboratory analysis will show what it is,” he concluded.
However, the opposition Telugu Desam Party has called for an investigation into the incident, insisting that water pollution is the cause of a mysterious disease.
