You think, and in vain, that they contain minimal information. In fact, using only one name, ticket number, reservation code or date with the flight number, anyone can get comprehensive information about you. This is easy to demonstrate with a simple example.

One "famous blogger" posted photos from his trip, naturally, providing them with pictures of boarding passes. How much time did it take to, looking at the photo, find out his passport number, all the flight parameters, personal mail, participant number in the loyalty program, what card did he pay for the ticket and how much did this ticket cost? Less than a minute.

Everything was simple: we opened the airline’s website, entered the last name and booking code from the photo - and all the treasured data was on the screen.

What can be done with this information?

You can, for example, call the airline and cancel the return segment. We are sure: when you get on the flight, you will get a lot of troubles, waste your nerves and maybe even find the culprit, but that will happen later, and first you won’t fly away, you will spend money on a new ticket and your nerves trying to understand what happened.

Your data can be used in a variety of ways: from bogus credit applications to trying to crack your bonus account. In short, the options are full. And you yourself have opened access to all your data. It was easier just to hang a passport photo.

Advice - do not upload photos of your boarding passes to the network. This can create a lot of problems for you. And if you really want to show your boarding pass to your friends, do it either in a closed record with limited access, or by removing all unnecessary items, such as the ticket number, reservation code and flight data.

Do not forget about barcodes, they are also quite easy to read and there is as much information as there is on the ticket, only in encrypted form. Web sites for reading Shrikh codes will be able to immediately decrypt information directly from photos on the social network.
