All over the world, including in America, there are actions in support of Ukraine: photo report

At first full scale Russian invasion to Ukraine in all Western capitals almost daily anti-war actions with calls to support Ukraine and stop the aggressor. On Saturday they were held in London, Berlin, Geneva, Edinburgh, Munich and Maastricht (Netherlands), on Sunday a number of other capitals joined the support of Ukraine. Large commercial, historical and administrative buildings are everywhere illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag and, as the participants of the actions note, “the world is becoming yellow-blaky”.

The United States is no exception either. A wave of anti-war rallies swept across America, including protests at White House. There were at least 3 anti-war rallies in Northern California alone last weekend: two in San Francisco (Saturday and Sunday) and one in Sacramento (Sunday).

The action in Sacramento included a car rally and a prayer for peace near the Capitol building, and then a procession to the bridge in memory of the opposition politician who was killed for 7 years and an uncompromising opponent of Russian aggression in Ukraine Boris Nemtsov. At the same time, a large rally organized by the Ukrainian charity Nova Ukraine gathered outside the San Francisco City Hall. The action brought together not only local Ukrainians, but also representatives of the Belarusian, Georgian, partly Russian and other diasporas, speaking in support of the warring Ukraine.

The main demand of the participants was the creation of a no-fly zone over Ukraine, as well as the complete isolation of Russia, including the absolute disconnection from SWIFT, the cessation of purchases of Russian oil and gas, and the closure of Moscow's access to all technologies and markets.

«It is necessary to close the sky over Ukraine and personal sanctions against Putin and all the oligarchs close to him, the arrest of all their accounts and property abroad", - the activist of the Ukrainian diaspora is sure Oksana Stus.

«It is important to strengthen sanctions and completely disconnect Russia from SWIFT", echoes her Alexander, a representative of the Belarusian diaspora, who has been living in the USA for 10 years. "It is also important to influence China, because it can ease sanctions on the Kremlin by sharing technology with Moscow and с her business. Russia alone will not be able to cope - it is not a self-sufficient country“- he is sure.

The involvement of his homeland in the war against Ukraine was a personal tragedy for Alexander. Constantly communicating with parents and relatives living in Belarus, he assures that the vast majority of the population understands what is happening and is horrified that their troops and territories are being used against a neighbor.

«If in Russia it is difficult to reach people because of propaganda, then in Belarus the main difficulties are connected with repressions. Any exit to the demonstration is a criminal liability. You will be imprisoned not for 15 days, as often happens in Russia, but for a couple of years. However, despite this, anti-war actions are taking place in Belarus too. Young people are especially worried, because if mass mobilization begins, no one will agree to fight with the Ukrainians. We are very ashamed of what is happening”, says the immigrant.

The participants of the rally appealed both to the Americans with a request for help and more severe measures to curb aggression, and to Russian society, in particular, to mothers who send their children to death and cannot even get coffins back. The participants repeatedly noted the courage of the Ukrainian army, sacrificing their lives for the sake of common European security.

«After Putin gave the order to bring nuclear forces to a state of high alert, the whole world shuddered and realized that Russia was waging war not only with Ukraine, but was trying, in the person of Ukraine, to fight the entire Western world. And therefore it is important to do everything possible to stop it. We're just worried that it might be too late. And, of course, we need to impose an embargo on the purchase of Russian oil and gas, and we also need a complete cut-off of Russian banks from the Visa and Master Cart systems. But I am afraid that this will not help either, since Putin has clearly lost his mind and is acting like a maniac. Therefore, we cannot do without increased military assistance”, another activist of the Ukrainian diaspora believes, Jana Ratman.

The Ukrainians assure that they do not intend to limit themselves to public speaking, and are going to achieve their demands from both American politicians and corporations. The participants also call on all those who are not indifferent to donate to humanitarian aid to those affected by the war and to support the Ukrainian army.
