'For security reasons': two companies at once suspended trials of drugs for COVID-19

US company Eli Lilly announced that independent observers had suspended clinical trials of COVID-19 treatment "as a precautionary measure," but did not elaborate.
The day before, American drug manufacturer Johnson & Johnson also suspended large-scale clinical trials of an experimental vaccine.
This decision, according to the company's website, was made due to the "unexplained illness" of one of the participants in the trials. Johnson & Johnson promises to inform the details later - after full information about the patient's condition is received, writes Meduza.
The company statement also emphasizes that when testing, especially large-scale, deterioration of health and other incidents are not unusual.

Johnson & Johnson has begun the third phase of trials of its coronavirus vaccine in 60 volunteers in the second half of September.
In early September, the third phase of the COVID-19 vaccine trial suspended by AstraZeneca - also due to the illness of one of the test participants. After about a week, trial of a vaccine that AstraZeneca is developing with Oxford University was resumed.
The third phase of trials of vaccines against coronavirus in the world is currently being carried out by several companies in several countries. In particular, at this stage is Sputnik V, which the Russian authorities call the world's first registered vaccine from COVID-19.
