Petition on direct flight Moscow-Seattle is gaining popularity among migrants

Migrants have registered a petition on Change.org “On the resumption of direct flights Moscow-Seattle”which has now collected a 1 361 voice. 139 votes are still needed for the petition to proceed to the next stage of consideration.

The author of the petition turns to Aeroflot to study the possibility of resuming the direct flight Moscow-Seattle (San Francisco) -Moscow.

Full text of the petition:

About 10% of Washington state immigrants are Russian-speaking immigrants from Russia and Eastern Europe (~ 50,000 people), and this number is growing every year. Approximately the same ratio to the total population is observed in the neighboring states of the USA - Oregon and California. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Moscow to the northwest coast of North America (including the USA, Canada and Alaska).

Prior to 2006, Aeroflot operated a direct SVO-SEA-SFO-SVO flight twice a week. The Moscow-Seattle flight took 11.5 hours (the shortest flight now lasts about 15 hours, with a transfer in Europe). The flight previously enjoyed great popularity, but was canceled for several reasons, some of which are no longer relevant.

We ask Aeroflot to explore the possibility of resuming direct flights Moscow-Seattle (San Francisco) -Moscow. Factors that confirm the mutual benefit of such a flight for both passengers and the air carrier:

· Hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Russia and Eastern Europe, including Belarus, Kazakhstan and other commonwealth countries, live in Washington, Oregon and Northern California, which suggests constant traffic congestion. And not only by passengers from the CIS - a direct flight from Moscow will be popular among residents of western China.

· There are no direct flights to Moscow from any major city in the US west coast (Seattle, Portland, San Francisco) and Canada (Vancouver). Seattle is just in the middle of the northwest coast.

· A direct flight to Seattle will be of interest not only to existing regular passengers, who now have to fly other carriers with transfers, but also attract a large number of new ones, for which the language barrier and the absence of transfers is a key factor (elderly relatives, families with children).

· Direct flight is convenient for business flights. Seattle has Microsoft headquarters, Boeing, Amazon, Google offices, Expedition; in San Francisco - Silicon Valley with the headquarters of all major US IT companies.

We ask Aeroflot to pay attention to the increased interest in the direct Moscow-Seattle flight and to consider the possibility of its resumption. Thank!
