'Vacation will kill you': why Elon Musk almost never rests

Why does he speak so badly about vacation? This is partly related to work. Musk said that in order to successfully create his startups, he has to work more than 100 hours a week.

“I don’t have time to go home and take a shower,” he said.

“I don’t think people should have to struggle and work long hours while the CEO, for example, goes on vacation,” he said.

In addition to this, Musk says that as soon as it came to vacation, he always had some problems.

In 2015, Musk declared that he had been on vacation only twice in more than a decade, and both times were problematic.

Musk planned a two-week trip to Brazil and South Africa. While in South Africa, Musk contracted a severe form of malaria. In two hospitals, he was diagnosed incorrectly, and before he was treated properly, Musk was "very close to death."

“This is my lesson,” Musk said in his book. “Vacation will kill you.”

After these unsuccessful attempts to rest, Musk went on at least two vacations - to Chile and Australia.
