'Threw, caught and ate': in Florida, alligators tore the body of a man

In Florida, a “strongly decomposed” body was found in a lake. Witnesses said they had seen several alligators pulling him into the lead.

According to reports, the body was found in the mangroves of Lake Maggiore in St. Pitesberg around 8 in the morning, July 4.

“We can't release anything at this time regarding gender, race or anything else,” said St. Pete police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez.

Residents of St. Petersburg Otis Crawford and his girlfriend, Patricia Case, said they saw alligators around 10 pulling the body into the water. The couple at this time had breakfast by the lake.

“I saw an alligator tear off a piece [of the body], tossed it into the air, caught it and ate it. After that I had to go back to the car. I could not look at it, ”recalls Case.

Crawford said he heard alligators. He managed to make a video of how the body was dragged under the water.

“I'm glad I noticed before the alligator pulled the body into the bushes, otherwise no one would have known,” Crawford said.

The fire service pulled the body out of the lake.

At the time of writing, the police were still investigating the incident, but did not call it an alligator attack.

“We can't call it an alligator attack at this time simply because there were alligators around the body when we found it and that made it a little more difficult to access,” Fernandez said.
