Russian-speaking woman who missed the flight lied that there was a bomb on the plane: now she faces prison

A passenger was arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Florida. When the airline staff told her that she had missed the flight, the woman stated that she had a bomb in her luggage. Writes more about the incident USA Today.

Marina Verbitsky of Chicago, Illinois missed her flight with her child and husband, according to a detention report from the Broward County Sheriff's office. It said the passenger was "very angry" after her family was not allowed to board the plane and used profanity against JetBlue employees at the airport.

When officers informed her that the plane was already taxiing to the runway, she said there was a bomb in her checked baggage on board the plane.

Broward County sheriffs' deputies responded to the bomb threat and authorities immediately launched an investigation. As a result, the plane was rerouted and passengers were evacuated.

Officials determined that there were no explosives on the plane.

Verbitsky was taken into custody and charged with one count of false information about planting a bomb, explosive device or weapons of mass destruction, which is a criminal offense.

The incident comes after the FAA announced last month that it had imposed more than $ 1 million in fines since the beginning of the year. Many passengers refused to comply with the federal mandate to wear masks.

The man was arrested on an American Airlines flight on Monday, September 6, after a row. He yelled at the flight attendant, and also shouted: "Joe Biden!"

The video was filmed by another passenger who claimed that the man, Timothy Armstrong, made racist and sexist remarks.
