Nominees for Oscar 2023 have been announced: two films related to Ukraine are on the list

On Tuesday, January 24, the nominees for the 2023 Academy Award became known, reports “Ukrainian Truth".

The nominees for the most prestigious film award were announced live by actor Riz Ahmed and actress Alison Williams.

This year, the leader in the number of nominations was the film “Everything Everywhere at Once” - it was presented in 11 categories. The films “All Quiet on the Western Front” and “Banshee of Inisherina” received 9 nominations each.

Nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film film "House of Splinters" Danish film director Simon Lereng Vilmont, filmed in co-production of Ukraine, Denmark and Sweden. She talks about social workers who, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, work in a special orphanage near the front line.

Also, another film filmed in Ukraine will compete for the award. It is an Indian historical drama "RRR" directed by S.S. Rajamouli. He is nominated for the original song "Naatu Naatu", which accompanies an Indian wedding scene filmed at Kiev's Mariinsky Palace in August 2021.

The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12. The 2023 Oscars will be hosted by popular American presenter and comedian Jimmy Kimmel. He has previously hosted the ceremony twice – in 2017 and 2018.
