The Netherlands accused Russia of attacking their ship near Crimea
The Dutch authorities claim that Russian military aircraft threatened the safety of a Dutch naval frigate in the Black Sea. This happened the day after the incident with the British destroyer "Defender". At the same time, the Dutch frigate Evertsen was outside the waters that Russia considers to be its own after the annexation of the Crimean peninsula. The edition told in more detail with the BBC.
Dutch Defense Minister Ank Beileveld-Schouten said on Tuesday that on June 24, Russian fighters were "flying dangerously low and close" to the frigate Evertsen.
According to her, after several hours of "intimidation", the ship experienced interruptions in the operation of electronic equipment. According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, the planes were equipped with bombs and air-to-surface missiles.
The minister called the actions of the Russian military "irresponsible" and added that the ship had every right to be there.
“There is no justification for such aggressive action, which unnecessarily increases the risk of incidents. The Netherlands will contact Russia on this matter,” the minister said.
The Dutch ship Evertsen was on patrol with British ships. The Dutch Ministry of Defense reported that the incident took place 14 nautical miles from Crimea, while Russia attributes a 12-mile zone to its territorial waters. The international community does not at all recognize Russia's sovereignty over these waters and considers them Ukrainian.

The Dutch authorities explained that they had not previously reported the incident as it happened late Thursday night, June 24. On June 25, the headquarters received reports, then it was decided to deal with the incident and find out the details, and on the 29th, the Ministry decided to report the incident to the public.
On June 28, the Sea Breeze naval exercise started in the Black Sea. They involve 32 warships, 40 aircraft and 5 servicemen from 17 NATO countries, as well as alliance partners.
Evertsen, however, does not take part in these exercises, the Dutch Defense Ministry said.
What they said in Russia
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the military aviation interacted with a Dutch naval ship. They said that Evertsen, which was in neutral waters on June 24, changed course and headed for the Kerch Strait, which Russia considers as part of its territorial waters.
To prevent border violations, Su-30 fighters and Su-24 bombers flew into the air, which "flew near the ship at a safe distance," the ministry said.

After that, the frigate, according to the Russian side, changed course towards "from the border of Russia." The flights were carried out in accordance with international rules, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The British Defender incident
23 June a similar incident occurred with the British destroyer "Defender"... He followed a course through the waters off the coast of the Crimea. Russia considers this place to be its territorial waters, which is not recognized by most states of the world, including Great Britain, which considers these waters to be Ukrainian.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the Russian military opened warning fire at the direction of the British destroyer and dropped four bombs in its path.
The next day, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Defender defended the country's values by adhering to internationally recognized rules of maritime navigation. At the same time, the British Ministry of Defense denies the fact of opening warning fire on the destroyer.
