A winter storm fell on the USA: blizzards, tornadoes, one person died

A powerful winter storm advancing from the Gulf of Mexico to the northeastern United States brings heavy rains, snowfalls and strong winds. He has already caused at least one death, reports Fox News.

The National Meteorological Service announced the possibility of tornadoes in the eastern United States on Thursday, February 6. Carolina has also issued several tornado warnings.

A powerful thunderstorm front swept early in the morning of February 6 through Alabama. As a result, one person died, another was injured. A strong wind destroyed two mobile homes near the city of Demopolis, reports the Storm Prediction Center.

It did not immediately become clear whether the tornado was to blame, but the Marengo County Emergency Manager said the strong wind started after 2 a.m.

The storm front brought heavy rains with gusty winds to New Orleans where forests collapsed at the construction site of the Four Seasons Hotel in the city center.

According to FOX8, one person was sent to the hospital, and the wreckage damaged five cars. At the same time, rainfall with hail hit the city. A strong wind broke the glass of two revolving doors.

In the south of the country, more than 113 homes and businesses were deprived of electricity. According to weather forecasts, the rains will continue on Friday, February 000, in most of the region.

An airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, evacuated a control tower and advised people to seek cover because of a tornado warning. Charlotte Douglas International Airport said on Twitter that the Federal Aviation Administration had evacuated people from the tower about an hour before the storm.

Meteorologists report that strong winds caused significant damage to the city of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

In the city of Kannapolis, a tornado swept near Interstate 85, and reported minor property damage.

Winter storm warnings apply to regions from Missouri to New England. According to weather forecasters, although only a few inches of rain is expected on the coast of Maine, up to 16 inches (40 cm) of rain can fall in New Hampshire.
