The trial of the murder of a Russian politician ended in July 2017. As a result, the jury found all five defendants guilty.
On the basis of a jury verdict, a judge of the Moscow District Military Court Yuri Zhitnikov sentenced the accused to 11 to 20 years in prison.
According to the official version, Nemtsov was killed on the basis of religious hatred. The investigation considers Ruslan Mukhudinov, an officer of the Sever battalion, to be the organizer and customer of the crime; he has been put on the international wanted list.
However, many Russian opposition and activists disagree with the official version and believe that Nemtsov was killed for political reasons.
