Lowe's hires 30 new employees due to coronavirus

Lowe's in response to the growing coronavirus pandemic employs 30 new workers and pays $ 000 million in bonuses to its employees, reports USA Today.

Lowe's President and CEO Marvin Ellison said bonuses for 300 employees in the retail chain range from $ 000 for full-time employees to $ 300 for part-time workers.

According to Ellison, bonus payments (they are credited March 31) will not be subject to income tax.

The company also offers employees at risk up to four weeks of extra paid leave, which is similar to the Target program announced last week. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that people over 65, pregnant and people with chronic diseases are more at risk of getting COVID-19.

Ellison also said the company offers free Teladoc services to employees and their families, regardless of whether they are included in the health plan.

The president of the company noted that, like other retailers, Lowe's begins to install sneeze protection, plexiglass or bulkhead barriers in stores, noting that they do it as quickly as they can. There are also reminders of social distance on signboards and in store ads.

Allison reported that Lowe's donated N-95 masks to medical centers across the country.

As of March 23, Lowe's temporarily reduced the number of working hours in nearly 2000 stores. Now they close at 20:30 from Monday to Saturday and at 19:00 on Sundays.
