US products continue to rise in price: how prices have changed over the past month
Over the past few months, Americans have seen prices rise at the grocery store, but some products are still cheaper, writes CNN.
Prices for home-use products rose by 1% in May, mainly due to higher meat prices. Its value increased because large processing plants were temporarily closed due to sick COVID-19 workers.
At the same time, last month some goods fell in price. Here is a summary of what has changed and what has not.
More expensive products
For lovers of breakfast cereals, the news is disappointing: prices for breakfast cereals rose by 1,4%.
Lunch and dinner will cost even more.
Prices for beef and veal increased by 10,8%. The increase in the value of some types of meat was even more significant: beef tenderloin went up by 19,5%, and prices for raw beef steaks jumped by 11,6%. The cost of pork chop increased by 8,4%. Fresh chicken carcass is now 2% more expensive.
Rice, pasta and cornmeal prices rose 1,8%. Salt, seasonings and spices went up by 1%.

Vegetables also rose in price.
Consumers paid 1,1% more for potatoes, 1,9% for tomatoes, and 1% for frozen vegetables. Think beans aren't that bad? We disappoint: dried beans, peas and lentils rose 4,9%.
And the desserts were not cheap either. Ice cream rose in price by 2,5%. Fresh cakes and muffins rose 1,8%, while sugar and sugar substitutes sold 1,2% more.
What has fallen in price
In May, people who ate healthier cereals than breakfast could get some benefit.
Egg prices fell 4,8%. Bread fell by 1,8%, sausages for breakfast - by 1,1%.
Roasted coffee declined 1,7%. The cost of citrus fruits fell by 1,2%.
Prices for durable goods have fallen.

The cost of soups decreased by 3,3%. Canned vegetables fell 1,2%; olives, pickles and seasonings - by 2,4%.
We will please fans of sweets: cookies now cost 3,1% less.
Old prices
Fresh fish and seafood fell 0,1%, as did bacon. Salad went up 0,1%, as did butter. Milk prices fell 0,4%.
