Riots in the USA: in Virginia, the leader of the Ku Klux Klan drove into a crowd of protesters
U.S. police arrested self-proclaimed Ku Klux Klan leader Harry Rogers for driving into a crowd of Black Lives Matters protesters in Virginia. Writes about this with the BBC.
According to prosecutors, Rogers, 36, drove “recklessly” in the direction of the protest and deliberately accelerated while doing so.
As a result, one participant of the rally suffered, but his injuries were not serious. The case is being investigated as a hate crime.
Harry Rogers himself introduced himself as the "president" of the Ku Klux Klan of Virginia.
According to media reports, he is the “highest-ranking” member of the association among those who are free and not in prison.
The Ku Klux Klan is an informal white supremacist group in the United States that has previously resorted to terrorist attacks against its opponents.
Rogers is also an active promoter of the ideology of the Confederacy, one of the parties in the US Civil War that opposed the abolition of slavery.

Conflicts often arise in Virginia over Confederate symbols and ideology. In particular, it was in this state that a monument to General Robert E. Lee of the Confederate States of America remained, which they are now planning to dismantle.
A similar incident occurred on Sunday in Seattle, Washington, where a man also drove into a crowd of protesters and threatened them with weapons. At least one person was injured. The driver was detained, writes CBS News.
The 27-year-old man was injured and was taken to hospital in a stable condition, the Seattle Fire Department said. Former University of Maryland basketball player Dino Gregory wrote in social networks that his brother Dan was shooting.
The incident video shows part of Capitol Hill, where hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the police station.
