Accident or ...: since the beginning of the year, 9 rich and influential Russians have died under mysterious circumstances

Lukoil Vice President Ravil Maganov died in Moscow (Russia). A 67-year-old employee of the company fell out of a hospital window. He became the ninth influential Russian to “commit suicide” this year alone, and almost all of them have died since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

It is reported that the vice-president of Lukoil fell out of a window from the sixth floor of the Central Clinical Hospital on Marshal Timoshenko Street in Moscow. From his injuries, he died on the spot, his body was discovered by medical personnel, writes RBC.

In the structures of Lukoil, Maganov has worked since 1993. In 2006 he was appointed First Vice President. In 2020, after the death of the chairman of the board of directors of the oil company, Valery Graifer, he headed the board and left the board.

Russian media reported that Maganov could have fallen out when he decided to smoke. A pack of cigarettes was found on the window.

He was in the hospital for a routine examination due to a long-standing pathology - he had heart problems. At the same time, his wife was in the next room. He left no suicide notes.

The press service of Lukoil stated that Maganov died "after a serious illness."

Leonid Shulman

A series of alleged suicides began with the top manager of Gazprom Invest, 61-year-old Leonid Shulman.

On January 30, 2022, his dead bloody body was found in his own mansion in the village of Leninsky (Leningrad region), writes 47news.

Police officers found the deceased on the bathroom floor. According to them, the man was lying on his stomach, there were deep incised wounds on both hands, everything around was covered in blood.

Among other things, law enforcement officers found a suicide note. It allegedly speaks of unbearable pain that he could not endure. He had an Ilizarov apparatus installed on his leg, which is used to splice bones.

The incident was classified as a suicide.

Alexander Tyulyakov

The very next day after the start of the war in Ukraine, on February 25, the body of another top manager of Gazprom, Alexander Tyulakov, was found in the same village, wrote Ukrainian Truth.

Tyulyakov, Deputy Director General of the Unified Settlement Center of Gazprom (the company's treasury) for corporate security, was found hanged in the garage attached to the house, a piece of paper, presumably a suicide note, lay nearby.

The content of Tyulakov's suicide note has not been disclosed. At the same time, some media reported that on the eve of Tyulakov's death, they saw him badly beaten. Under what circumstances a Gazprom top manager could have been beaten remains a mystery.

The investigator involved in the case, on condition of anonymity, said that when the criminalists were already working, strong guys arrived in three SUVs. They declared that they were Gazprom's security service, cordoned off the territory, and "we and most of the policemen were simply put outside the fence."

This incident was also given the status of "suicide".

Vladislav Avaev

On April 18, in Moscow, his wife, daughter, and directly the former vice-president of Gazprombank, Vladislav Avaev, were found murdered, informed Фокус.

On April 21, in the Spanish town of Lloret de Mar, located in the province of Girona, Sergey Protosenya, a former top manager of Russia's largest private gas production company Novatek, was found dead, along with his wife and daughter, wrote Фокус.

The investigation decided that 55-year-old Protosenya hacked to death his wife Natalya and 18-year-old daughter Maria with an ax while they were sleeping, and then hanged himself in the garden of a rented villa near Barcelona. A knife and an ax were found next to him.

The son of Sergei Fedor does not believe in the version of the investigation.

“My father is not a murderer. He loved my mother and especially Mary, my sister. She was his princess. He would never do anything to harm them. I don’t know what happened that night, but I know that my father would not harm them,” Fyodor Protosenya assured.

Alexander Subbotin

On May 8, the former top manager of the Russian oil giant Lukoil, billionaire Alexander Subbotin, died in Mytishchi after an anti-hangover session with shamans, reported Фокус.

The DC police said they are still investigating, but they don't suspect any criminal activity and are waiting for the medical examiner's opinion.

He has held senior positions in several Russian financial institutions and executed various cross-border transactions representing the interests of Russian companies and various international institutional investors.

Dan's wife Allen does not believe in the version of suicide.

Ogarev, 64, headed Rosvooruzhenie from 1999 to 2000. Now this company does not exist: after the merger with FSUE Promexport, it was turned into Rosoboronexport. This is the only special exporter of Russian weapons and military equipment in the Russian Federation with a turnover of billions of rubles, stressed Фокус.

He managed to work as Russia's permanent representative to the OSCE, deputy head of the presidential administration of Russia and deputy secretary of the Security Council. It is known that Ogarev studied with Boris Yeltsin's son-in-law. In addition, he is the ex-head of the oil company Urals Energy.
