An unvaccinated six-year-old child has had tetanus. Parents received a bill for $ 800 thousand

A six-year-old boy from Oregon who was never vaccinated spent almost two months in the hospital with a diagnosis of tetanus and received medical bills worth $ 800 000, writes FOX News.

A report by the Federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that this incident occurred in 2017 and is the first case of tetanus found in a child over the past 30 years.

It is reported that the child during the game on the farm got a scratch on the forehead. The wound was treated and stitched at home. A week later, the child began to suffer from involuntary muscle spasms. He was diagnosed with opisthotonus, a tonic contraction of the muscles of the back and neck, with the head tilted back and stretching of the limbs.

Parents contacted the doctors when the child had breathing problems. He was sent to the hospital.

The hospital diagnosed tetanus. His condition quickly deteriorated: he had a high fever, and his muscle spasms became stronger.

The boy spent 57 days in the hospital, 47 of which were in the intensive care unit. His hospital bills totaled $811.

The child has never been vaccinated. After discharge, despite the experience, parents refused to carry out vaccination.

Tetanus is described by CDC as an acute neuromuscular disease caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani, which penetrates the human body through an open wound.
