Every day more and more interesting details are coming up related to the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014.

The newspaper The New York Times reveals the secrets of Grigory Rodchenkov, who at that time headed the Russian anti-doping laboratory.

It turns out that dozens of Russian athletes at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, including at least 15 prize winners, were part of a state-controlled doping program, carefully planned over many years. Hiding the dope of Russian athletes, the Russian authorities wanted to ensure their domination at the Games, said Grigory Rodchenkov.

He developed a cocktail in which he mixed three prohibited substances with liquor and distributed to dozens of athletes, helping him pass one of the most difficult doping tests in the sports history.

Such a cocktail was taken by famous Russian athletes, including 14 members of the ski team and two bobsleeters, who then won two gold medals.

Late at night, Russian anti-doping agency experts and intelligence officials secretly replaced the "dirty" urine samples with "clean" samples collected several months earlier.

Also, every night for several hours they worked in a dark lab lit by one lamp, manually passing samples through a small hole in the wall to prepare for successful testing the next day.

By the end of the Olympics, Rodchenkov estimates they had replaced at least 100 samples of “dirty” urine. None of the athletes were eventually caught for doping.

Russia won the most medals at the Olympics, easily beating its main competitors, including the US team.

“People celebrate the victory of Olympic champions, and we sit and change their urine. Can you imagine how Olympic sports are organized?” Rodchenkov complained.

Revelations Stepanova attracted the attention of the FBI. American intelligence agencies are interested in the circumstances of the success of the Russian Olympic medalists in Sochi.
