Name a cockroach after a former partner and feed it to a predator: a zoo in Texas came up with a promotion for Valentine's Day

The San Antonio Zoo (Texas) offers a special Valentine's Day greeting for ex-lovers. You can name a cockroach after your ex-lover and feed the cockroach to the animal. Writes about it CNN.

For $10, the zoo will name a cockroach after your no longer special person and feed the bug to the animal—a cold but direct message that you're no longer interested in a relationship with your ex.

Cry Me a Cockroach's annual fundraiser will "support the zoo's commitment to securing a future for wildlife in Texas and around the world." according to the San Antonio Zoo website.

Those who don't like bugs can opt for a $5 vegetable or a $25 rodent instead.

All donors will receive a digital Valentine's Day card confirming their support for the zoo. They can also send their ex-partner a digital Valentine's Day card and let them know that a cockroach (rodent or vegetable) was named after them and fed to the animal.

Those with particularly stubborn exes can pay $150 for a personalized video message to the recipient showing an animal devouring a cockroach (rodent or vegetable) named after it.

The annual event, said zoo director Sile Perez, is a success. Last year they received over 8000 donations from all 50 states and over 30 different countries.

"Now we're on track to break last year's record, and Zach, Ray and Adam are the most common names so far," Perez said.

To participate, you must enter your ex's name online until Valentine's Day.
