On the streets of San Francisco, found mountains of garbage, needles from syringes and feces
San Francisco is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but a review of more than 150 neighborhoods in the city center revealed a huge amount of garbage on the streets of San Francisco, including human excreta and needles from syringes.
In general, the study was conducted in 153 quarters, where the city hall and several schools are located, reports NBC.
The study found an 41 block contaminated with needles and syringes, and 96 blocks with human excrement.
After seeing the results of the study, an expert on infectious diseases at the University of California (Berkeley) compared the center of the city of San Francisco with slums in developing countries.
“The pollution is much greater than in communities in Brazil, Kenya or India,” said Dr. Lee Riley.
Riley added that needles from syringes can be the cause of the spread of HIV and hepatitis B and C, while human feces can also cause potentially dangerous viruses.
In December, San Francisco 2016 topped the ranking of American cities with the largest number of homeless. The high cost of living has led to a huge gap between the rich and the poor. At the beginning of 2018, the FBI reported that San Francisco had the highest level of property crime in the country.
