Participants in the action in the center of the capital are seeking admission of opposition candidates to the Moscow City Duma elections. In the central board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detention of 1074 people, "ATS-Info" calls the number 1067.

Several hundred people were detained at a rally in the center of Moscow, reports RBC with reference to social organizations.

“A significant number of detainees are not residents of Moscow,” the head office reported. “All the detainees are brought to the territorial police units for investigation.”

An action not approved by the authorities for admitting independent candidates to the Moscow City Duma elections, which the Moscow City Election Committee had previously removed from participation, began at 14: 00 on Tverskaya Street near the City Hall. Later, protesters broke through the cordon near the intersection of Tverskaya Street with Tverskoy and Passionate Boulevards and reached the roadway.

The police squeezed part of the protesters from Tverskaya Street into the alleys. The correspondent of RBC reports that they are returning back to Tverskaya in various ways. Locals complain that they are not allowed to go to their homes on the cordoned off Tverskaya and in its surroundings.

The action takes place without opposition leaders - by the beginning of the event most of them were detained. Among them is Ivan Zhdanov, director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, candidates Dmitry Gudkov, Yulia Galyamin, Ilya Yashin, Alexander Soloviev and Lyubov Sable, who were not allowed to participate in the elections.

The Moscow City Election Commission explained the refusal to register opposition candidates in the elections to the Moscow parliament by exceeding the permissible level of marriage in the signatures collected in their support and other violations. On behalf of the participants not allowed to the election, the Moscow City Court filed 29 lawsuits in which the plaintiffs challenged the decisions of the district election commissions and the Moscow City Election Committee.
