'We made them': how Zelensky reacted to the exit poll results

Vladimir Zelensky, a candidate for the presidency of Ukraine, spoke after the announcement of the first exit poll results with a winning speech.

He expressed gratitude to the whole team, as well as to the Ukrainians, who supported him in the second round.

“We did this together. Now there will be no pathos. I just want to say thank you to my parents for their support and for getting through this, to my wife for her strength and endurance. If she had heard everything that was said about me, she would not have married me. Thanks to our entire team, our entire headquarters, every expert, lawyer, call center... Special thanks to Oksana and Lyuba for cleaning up after everyone I listed,” Zelensky said.

“Thank you to all law enforcement officers, the SBU, for keeping me on my toes. Thank you to all the volunteers and the army for taking care of Ukraine. Thanks to all the journalists. Thanks to all Ukrainians who supported me,” he said.

He also promised that he “won’t let anyone down.”

He also addressed representatives of other countries:

“While I am still not officially a president, I can say as a citizen to all countries of the post-Soviet Union: look at us — this is possible,” Zelensky added.

The presidential candidate also drew attention to a coincidence that no one expected. He showed a still frame from a pre-election video where the number 73 can be seen on the podium and commented on it with the following words: “Thank God. Thank you all".

In turn, current president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko admitted defeat on election xnumx and congratulated Vladimir Zelensky.

In particular, he addressed his supporters and media representatives, citing the well-known expression of Winston Churchill.

“Never give up in the great and never give up in the small, if this does not contradict honor and common sense... In 2014, I received a country that was being attacked by Putin’s horde. No country has ever faced such challenges as it did then. Then there were much fewer people who wanted to become president...Never give up, I heard then. Never give up, I hear now, when I saw the results of the exit polls. Although they give reasons to call my opponent and congratulate him,” Poroshenko said.

He also added that he is not going to leave politics.

“Next month I will leave the post of head of state. This is what the majority of Ukrainians decided – and I accept this decision. I will leave the office of the president, but I am not leaving politics. I remain in politics. I will fight for Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.

“Because our team must defend the achievements that we have won together with you. To defend the Euro-Atlantic strategy, the milestones that we have achieved over the past 5 years and which are now under threat,” he explained.

We note, according to the results of the National exit poll Vladimir Zelensky is leading in the elections with 73,2% of votes, and 25,3% of respondents cast votes for Petro Poroshenko.
