Israeli Ministry of Interior issued 28 reasons for refusing entry permission

Last week, the Israeli Directorate of Population and Migration Registration published new instructions for working with individuals who arrived at the international border crossings of the State of Israel. The Office has updated the list of reasons why a person may be denied permission to enter Israel. In the list of 28 items, some are repeated. This list is not final, and those who enter may be denied entry for other reasons.

— Availability of information in the field of security or law enforcement.

— Lack of invitation, according to instructions on countries with visa requirements or other relevant instructions.

— Arrival for the purpose of visiting a person who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Israel.

— Lies at the border crossing.

— Suspicion that the purpose of the visit is permanent residence in Israel.

— The purpose of the visit is unclear.

— Refusal to cooperate with border guards.

- Wrong visa.

— Presence of first-degree relatives in Israel who are foreign workers.

- No visa.

- Lack of invitation.

— Lack of entry permit (for those arriving at the Allenby checkpoint).

— The purpose of the visit is illegal employment.

- Public order disturbance.

— Suspicion of moving for the purpose of permanent residence.

— Suspicion that the newcomer will become a burden for the state.

— Suspicion of missionary activity.

— Failure to meet minimum requirements.

— The person who arrived was previously denied entry.

— The purpose of the visit is unclear.

— The newcomer spent the maximum permitted period of time in Israel as a foreign worker.

— The person who came previously worked in Israel, and now came as a tourist.

— Exceeding the maximum permitted period of stay in Israel.

— Illegal stay in Israel in the past.

— Activities within the BDS movement (calls for a boycott of Israel, withdrawal of investments and imposition of sanctions).

The ministry noted that in case of refusal, the reason for the refusal will be announced. After that, the person will be returned to the place from which he arrived or to any other place to which he can receive permission to enter.

Note that, according to the latest data published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2016, at the border, 16 534 arrived at the border, the vast majority of which were citizens of Georgia and Ukraine.
