California Costco shooting: a man killed by a policeman was dumb and could not show aggression
The man, who was shot by a Los Angeles police officer at a Costco store in Southern California, had mental limitations and could not start a fight that would lead to a deadly confrontation, his cousin said.
The Corona City Police Department stated that 32-year-old Kenneth French from Riverside was shot dead after he allegedly “attacked an officer who was holding a small child,” which resulted in the policeman firing a gun and hitting French and two others members of his family who were badly injured writes Fox News.
But the victim's cousin, Rick Schureich, disputes the information released by authorities. He said French was "non-aggressive, non-violent and non-verbal" and was described as a "gentle giant".
"He's not one to exchange words, so I don't believe there was a verbal confrontation," the brother told reporters.

Shureikh, who was not in the store during the shooting, identified the two wounded as parents of French, Russell and Paul French, saying that they remain in the intensive care unit.
On Sunday, Schureich published a photo of the embracing family on Facebook, saying that “don't keep silent about it,” because “people need to know!”
“Do they look scary to you? Did he really have to shoot them all? "I'm posting this photo because stories on social media have made them suspects and the police officers victims," Shureich wrote. “This is a family that was unarmed and was only engaged in grocery shopping. The truth will come out!”
Judging by the fact that the record is now unavailable, he later deleted it.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Schureich said that his cousin’s mental state had deteriorated in recent years and that he no longer speaks.
“He may have bumped into someone, but he couldn’t say he regretted it,” Schureich said.
The family is going to hire a lawyer, collect video evidence and witness testimony of what happened. The police did not indicate whether French had a weapon and whether the officer declared himself a police officer before firing.
