A man in Russia started shooting at the crowd because of an unsuccessful divorce: three dead

A 66-year-old resident of Krymsk, in the Krasnodar Territory in southern Russia, opened fire on the premises of a medical center, and then went outside and started shooting at passers-by, reports Meduza.

First, Telegram channels published a video shot in the city of Krymsk, in which a man with a gun in his hands was shooting at people on the street. Then the prosecutor's office of the Krasnodar region confirmed that an unknown person in Krymsk opened fire near the Slavyansky shopping center, reports with the BBC.

Four people were killed, including the shooter. Another person who happened to be near the medical center at the time of the shooting was wounded. The man who opened fire committed suicide.

“Today, at about 17:00, in the premises of one of the medical centers of the city of Krymsk, located on Komarova Street, a local resident born in 1956 inflicted fatal gunshot wounds on two employees of this organization. Then he went out into the street and opened fire on passers-by,” Alexander Runov, head of the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, told reporters.

Telegram channels, including 112 и Mash, they write that the shooting was opened by Vladimir Zhirov, who lost the trial to his ex-wife Galina.

“According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident could have been the result of a divorce proceeding involving an attacker,” the police spokesman added.

Zhirov began to divorce his wife back in 2019. The family could not divide the jointly acquired property for a long time, reports 93.ru. Vladimir's ex-wife, together with her son, sold the apartment, and the man felt that he had been deceived. He wanted to return the money and claimed that his son had schizophrenia, so he could not manage the finances himself. But the ex-wife was able to prove that the money did not belong to Zhirov, and their son was in the psychiatric clinic only once - in 2009, and after that he lives a normal life.

After the verdict, the man began to pursue his wife and threatened her. According to Telegram channels, the woman ran into the mall and asked for help, but her ex-husband opened fire. Then he went to his son and committed suicide near his house.

The shooter apparently knew his victims.

“A 66-year-old local resident, out of personal hostility, fired several shots at his acquaintances born in 1983 and 1969, who died on the spot from their injuries,” the Investigative Committee of Russia reports in its Telegram channel.

The department confirmed that the attacker fired from a gun. Telegram channels previously claimed that the man fired from a long-barreled rifle covered with a towel (the fact that the weapon was wrapped in cloth was also captured on video).
