The man committed a new murder after he was released, considering it too old to kill

77-year-old Albert Flick of Maine was convicted of the murder of Kimberly Dobby in front of her twin sons, which was committed in July 2018, writes NBC News.

An 77-year-old man was released early for committing another murder, finding that he was too old to commit a crime again.

Flick killed 48-year-old Dobby near a laundry in the city of Lewiston 15 July 2018. Her children, 11-year-old twins were nearby. Video cameras recorded how they ran to the mother at the time of the murder.

"I'm glad the sentence is final and I'm glad he'll never be able to walk the streets again," said Dobbie's friend James Lipps.

In turn, the prosecutor noted that he was saddened by the fact that the children could not recover from the consequences of the murder of the mother. Now the boys live with their grandmother in Massachusetts.

“What happened to these children is just terrible. I know the family is supporting them and we hope for the best,” he said.

This was not the first time Flick had brutally attacked a woman.

Back in 1979, he killed his wife, Sandra, under similar circumstances - stabbing her to death while her infant daughter was nearby. He was convicted of murder and served 25 years behind bars.

After being released in 2004, Flick was convicted of assaulting two other women in 2010. The judge sentenced Flick to almost four years in prison. The man should have been sentenced to eight or nine years, but they decided to give a sentence less, believing that he would be too old to commit any violent acts.

After being released in 2014, Flick moved to Lewiston. Prosecutors said he was passionate about Dobby. He followed her and even ate at the homeless shelter where the woman lived. Witnesses reported that the killer and his victim were not in a relationship.

According to the state forensic scientist, Dobby received 14 stab wounds, including injuries to her heart and lungs.

Flick can get from 25 years to life.
