“Our message is to prevent fire or injury from using hand sanitizer. There have been rare cases in the recent past where reflected light passed through a clear bottle could focus on a flammable surface and cause a fire. Many people are now in quarantine, the weather has improved and they have started grilling, bonfire parties and other activities, so it is important to remember to stay safe,” the police department wrote.
