San Francisco Metropolitan will ban smoking electronic cigarettes
The BART train system, after numerous customer complaints, has decided to ban smoking e-cigarettes inside train cars and even in train stations. If the ban is adopted, smoking will cost violators $100-200, reports Inside Bay Area.
At the time of the initial vote, the BART board unanimously approved the measure. The final vote is scheduled for February 12.
The American Lung Association supported the ban, with a spokesman noting that “this is not some harmless smoke. They [electronic cigarettes] vaporize particles of nicotine and other substances that are considered harmful toxins.”
The first violation of the ban carries a fine of $100, each subsequent violation is $200.
In addition, Senator Mark Leno (Mark Leno) submitted this week for consideration a bill according to which electronic cigarettes will be equated with tobacco products. This will ensure a ban on the use of electronic cigarettes in all public places, writes AmericaRu.com
