A nurse could infect 2600 patients with hepatitis C
Two patients became infected with hepatitis C from a nurse in a hospital in Washington, and about 2600 people could be infected.

A nurse who was not identified managed antihistamines and sedatives as part of her work in the emergency department of the hospital MultiCare Good Samaritan in Puyalupe, in 35 miles south of Seattle.
From August 2017 to March 2018, the nurse stole drugs from the hospital and had a positive test for hepatitis C.
Now, even patients who have not been in contact with a nurse are recommended to take a test for Hepatitis B, C and HIV, as there are concerns that some hospital equipment might be infected.
The nurse is no longer working in the hospital.
“We deeply value the trust of our community and apologize for the disruption this will cause,” hospital group CEO Chris Bredeson said in a statement.
“We remain committed to the highest standards of patient care and are working to make sure that affected patients have the information they need.”
Most people with hepatitis C do not understand that they have the virus, because it can take years or even decades before symptoms appear.
About one in four people with hepatitis C naturally get rid of the virus.
The remainder develops into a chronic infection. Many people with chronic hepatitis C infection live a normal life.
