Personal experience: for a joke about the communists in the USA, you can lose your job

This story is about as an American colleague called Lena a communist.

“I tie my apron as I run, straighten my black shirt - as usual, I’m three minutes late. My colleagues are already flocking to the restaurant: here is Jimmy, a constantly smiling guy in a plaid shirt. But Anna is a waitress, 27 years old, Russian, with whom we always chat in our native language. And now we exchange a few words on the go,” says Lena Lukashova.

- Hello communists! - Wayne, a short guy of about 30 with a brown beard who runs the kitchen, shouts to the girl with a cheerful grin.

While Lena manages to be surprised at the unexpected treatment, he is already sweeping on. After a couple of seconds, Lena forgets about it, but suddenly the manager of her restaurant, Lisa, comes up to her and asks if everything is all right, how Lena feels, and if Wayne's words hurt her.

It turns out that she heard this greeting.

Lena calmly replied that everything was in order.

“Lisa looks carefully into my eyes, as if she is trying to be convinced of my words once again,” says the blogger.

Soon, Wayne himself comes up to her and asks for forgiveness, saying that he just wanted to joke.

As it turned out later, he received a warning from management about his humor.

“Because, they say, it’s not appropriate to joke about political topics. What is the point of such warnings - if three warnings are received, then they can already fire you, and this will be a completely legal basis. With the topic of politics, as well as race, religion, gender in American companies, it’s so strict. For me, all this was strange, because his words did not hurt: it was clear that the guy was just making a bad joke,” says Lena.

“Now, no matter how I meet Wayne, he just smiles warmly. Apparently, he remembers that there are two warnings left. That’s the story,” the girl laughs.
