Ksenia Sobchak had a fatal accident

The famous Russian TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak got into a car accident near Sochi, one person died. The driver pleaded guilty, reports with the BBC.

On Saturday evening, October 9, the Mercedes S500 car, in which TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak was, was in a fatal accident on the 38th kilometer of the highway between Krasnaya Polyana and Adler. The car drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a Volkswagen, in which there were three people. As a result of the impact, Volkswagen was thrown onto a minibus.

At first, Russian news agencies reported that the second victim died in the hospital, but later RIA Novosti sources clarified that she had been operated on and was in serious condition, “but the prognosis is positive.” The third victim is also in serious condition.

Ksenia Sobchak claims that she did not rush the driver.

“I was in the car. The car is not mine, nor is the driver. I didn’t push the driver, of course. None of us pushed it. During the trip, I communicated on work via Zoom and there is a recording of how I do it. This was a specific personal decision of the driver, it’s true,” Sobchak wrote in her Telegram. Earlier, rumors began to spread on social networks that the driver made a dangerous maneuver because the TV presenter was rushing him.

As the TASS agency reports with reference to the prosecutor's office in the Krasnodar region, the driver Sobchak admitted guilt in the accident. “He admitted that he drove into oncoming traffic. In fact, at the moment, the cause-and-effect relationship of the incident is that he drove into oncoming traffic, which is why [the accident] happened,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Sobchak claims that after the collision she lost consciousness, but subsequently refused hospitalization in Sochi in order to return home.

Director of Ksenia Sobchak Kirill Sukhanov, in a conversation with the TASS agency, said that the presenter is ready to help the victims. “Today we received the contacts of the victims,” the agency’s interlocutor said. “We’ll get in touch with the husband of the deceased, he’s flying to Moscow today.” The relatives of the second victim will arrive tomorrow. Everyone will be helped,” he said.
