Congress asked Trump to postpone the annual message
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Nancy Pelosi, sent a letter to President Donald Trump asking him to postpone the annual message “On the situation of the country” because of the shatdaun, writes Rtvi.
On January 11, the US Congress has already voted to pay compensation to civil servants when funding resumes.
On 17, January is the 27 day of the partial shutdown of the US government. At the same time, this is the third partial shutdown of the government under President Donald Trump. The first flight lasted for three days - from 20 to 22 in January 2018, and the second lasted less than a day - in February 9 2018. But this shatdaun became the longest in history.
22 December, the US government partially suspended work after the Senate and the president could not reach an agreement on the budget. Trump refused to sign a document in which $ 5,7 billion was not provided for the construction of a wall on the southern border of the country.
The message “On the situation of the country” is the annual address of the US President to the Congress. In it, he presents his assessment of the situation in the country and describes the upcoming legislative initiatives.
