How Zelensky became a new enemy for the Russian state television channels
The candidate Vladimir Zelensky, who won the presidential election in Ukraine at the beginning of the election race, was viewed in the Russian media as a positive hero. But everything quickly changed when it became clear that he would become the new head of Ukraine.
Now on the Russian federal channels about Zelensky speak as sharply as the current president Petro Poroshenko the past few years, writes "Currently,".
“A new series is starting in Ukraine: how we trusted it, how we chose it and how quickly it will lose popularity,” Russian presenter Vladimir Solovyov began the Sunday edition of his show with these words.
And just recently, two weeks ago, one of the most odious presenters on Russian television was much more good-natured towards Zelensky. For example, on April 4, on the air of the “Who’s Against” program, he and his guests discussed videos that Ukrainian presidential candidates recorded on the eve of the debate.
“On the one hand there is Hollywood, on the other there is the Dovzhenko film studio, 1978, they also added some music. In fact, Zelensky is the next point in the development, in the evolutionary development of Ukrainian political reality,” Solovyov said then.

Zelensky has been a positive character on Russian TV for quite a long time: he is “close to Russia”, you can have a dialogue with him, and Poroshenko’s “dirty campaign” is being waged against him. Even Dmitry Kiselev admitted that the showman performed well at the debates.
“Zelensky simply brought Poroshenko to his knees. And the stands, following the results of the verbal duel, chanted “Zelensky, Zelensky,” the TV presenter told the audience.
But by the evening of 21, when the results of exit polls were announced and the first official figures began to appear, and Zelensky (as almost already the president) made the first statements about the situation in the Donbas, the rhetoric of the Russian channels suddenly changed dramatically.
“There is little positive yet. The campaign was outstanding because he managed to say nothing, this is a campaign based on emptiness, this is a campaign of nothing,” said Russian presenter Pyotr Tolstoy.
“When you ask what team is the person they chose, they are not able to answer. And what first steps he is going to take - they are not able to answer. And all of Ukraine is wildly happy. “To what?” Solovyov posed a rhetorical question after the elections.

“None of the candidates proposed ways to get the country out of this severe crisis. And there was no point in expecting this. The plan was for the performance,” concluded Kiselev.
“Ukraine will now be led by a clown, comedian, showman, and Roshen stores will be replaced by a network of concert halls, music halls and cabarets,” said the odious Olga Skabeeva.
The new version of the events in Ukraine of the Russian federal channels: they did not vote for Zelensky at all, but against Poroshenko. But now Ukrainians will quickly find out about the newly elected president the whole truth and will be greatly disappointed.
